Atlanta, Savannah Georgia workers’ compensation attorney Ty Wilson discusses if you can settle your Georgia workers’ compensation claim if you quit your job.
Hello. This is Ty Wilson. I’m a Georgia workers’ compensation attorney practicing law in the State of Georgia and our video topic for today is if I quit my job, will there still be a settlement of my Georgia workers’ compensation claim? The answer to that question is maybe. Georgia Workers’ compensation claims are optional to settle. They’re optional for you and they’re optional for the employer/workers’ compensation insurance company.
If the employer does not wish to settle the claim, then likely there will not be a settlement. If both parties wish to settle the claim, then there could be. However, if you are thinking about quitting your job, you should reach out to a Georgia workers’ compensation attorney immediately to discuss what legal rights you may be giving up and how you may be seriously devaluing or lowering the value of your case by quitting.
It is very important that you speak with someone before you make a quick decision that could greatly reduce the value of your workers’ compensation claim. Sometimes these employers will attempt to push you to quit and in those cases, you want to really think long and hard as to what is motivating them to do that and it’s usually money.
We hope that you found this information helpful. We hope that you’ll come check out our other videos and if you have any specific questions about you’re Georgia workers’ compensation claim, we hope that you’ll give us a call. Thank you.
